So many ideas, so little time... It's probably every crafter's nightmare but I just never seem to have enough time to accomplish all my projects.
With only 5 weeks to go in pregnancy time starts to seems to fly by and my list of projects seems to grow by the day (I might need a second sleeping bag and even another one in a larger size, and what about a summer version? You see what I mean!).
As I love the design so much I decided on making another Romée romper. I realized I had a matching cardigan which makes the outfit extra cute.

12 weeks to go! Yes, D-day is approaching and even though I can't wait to hold my little one in my arms, it's becoming harder by the day to ignore those upcoming labor pains.... As much as I try to be in denial, it's coming closer and the fear is mounting!
"Don't think about it, just sew like your life depends on it" is my motto... I took this quite literally and have been pretty busy over the past few weeks.
Petit Gaspard is my latest project. Yet another Citronille pattern but definitely one of my favorites. Assuming my baby boy will be as crazy about blue as my beloved husband is (I swear, about 98% of his closet exists of a wide spectrum of blues!) I made the cutest blue cotton romper.
I immediately fell in love with this vintage style romper. I also had the perfect fabric in my stash for these cute trousers with attached bib. In New York's B&J fabrics I found this beautiful cotton fabric and hoping that one day I could turn it into something cute for my own little munckin...
I used blue rickrack to finish the edges around the bib, 3 push buttons make it easier to change a nappy...

Citronille is one of the cutest brands of sewing patterns. I discovered them about a year ago and have fallen completely in love with these vintage inspired patterns. Even though their adult patterns are quite nice too it's especially the baby clothes that make my heart melt.
My Moschino inspired strawberry fantasy dress (Meg pattern) was one of my last projects however since my husband and I found out we're going to have a little baby boy by early October (we are so excited!!!!) I just can't stop sewing baby stuff...
This Citronille Colombe top is so adorable I just couldn't wait to make it in this fabulous blue rabbit cotton I bought a while ago. I actually started making the top before I knew the sex of the baby. As I thought it was quite unisex (at least for a baby) I went ahead and started on this adorable blouse. I made the long sleeve version of the top for winter time. It has 3 buttons at the back.

Finally... I'm back! It feels like blog years ago since I last spoke to you but here I am... My parents are currently visiting me in Dubai which makes me a tour operator/entertainer/cook/driver for about 18 hours a day.
I did manage to find a some of time off to do a a little bit of crafting. A few months ago I bought these beautiful vintage plates on a flea market in Brussels. The project I had in mind was an old fashioned cake stand made out of plates and liqueur glasses. I found the glasses as well as 2 nice plates but hadn't found the perfect base plate yet.
Well last month I finally found the plate I was looking for. And the cake stand is finished. Amazing what you can make out of some old crockery and superglue!
I saw her and I fell in love... This afternoon I did
some auction hopping with my parents in Brussels. We went from gallerie
Moderne to Flaget but it wasn't until our last stop, gallerie Horta that
I met my match.
I saw her, looked her in the eye and it was without a doubt love at first sight...
The
oil painting is signed by Saint Germain and is from 1920's. It measures
35x27 cm and I think it's absolutely beautiful. The love the color
palette and the detail of the eye make up.The price is estimated between
2000 and 2500 euro.
I know already exactly where I would hang this piece of art. If only I had the money to splurge on this beauty...
You might have heard of Detroit based design duo Erickson Beamon. These extremely talented accessory designers have created a very unique collection of costume jewellery, using swarovski and colorful stones.
Apparently their talent doesn't just stop there... They just came up with an amazing collection of 1920's inspired clothing line.
Being a great fan of the decadent 1920's fashion I've completely fallen in love with their new line.
Definitely some food for inspiration...
Let me tell you, 10 years in Dubai and I still haven’t got used to the idea of celebrating Christmas with an outside temperature of over 20 degrees celsius... Believe me, there’s nothing Christmasy about it! If it’s not snowing the least thing it should be is cold. I would even prefer miserable rainy weather to perfect beach weather at this time of the year. I dream every day of cuddling up in bed with a nice hot cocoa (or preferably some glue wine) a nice book. Right now I’m reading A Christmas Carol, the ultimate Christmas read...
I do get really excited though when evening are cooling down and it actually gets a little chilly.
As I don’t have a lot of long sleeve garments I really wanted to make myself a top which I can wear during daytime as well as on a night out.
This Simplicity 2270 1940’s peplum pattern just had my name written all over it: long sleeve, peplum and with a nice bow at the back.
I went for version 1 and made it in Italian lightweight wool. I had to adapt the seize quite a bit as a 1940’s size 14 seemed way to small (what!!!!). To give the shoulders some more shape I used small shoulder pads.

Baby clothes are just my thing! Quick, easy and you can let your creativeness go wild... Over the past few months I’ve tried out a few Oliver + S patterns which look so adorable I sometimes wish I could wear them myself!
I’ve had my eye on the Vivienne jumper (downloadable from www.burdastyle.com ) for while now and when I bought this nude colored lace fabric I just couldn’t wait to sew it into a vintage mini dress.
I used a matching colour cotton voile for the lining and 2 original vintage glass button which I purchased on ebay. Oh so cute!
You might have wondered where the hell I’ve been... The truth is that I’ve taken a break for a few weeks and travelled...pretty much around the world!
No time for crafting nor sewing unfortunately but I did go on a treasure hunt.
One of my favourite pass times is without a doubt strolling around flea markets and antique stores. The flea market on the Vossenplein in the Marollen in Brussels is still one of my favourite ones, probably because it’s home but also just because it’s a great place for treasure hunting. And oh, did I find some treasures!
I couldn’t contain myself when I found these 2 original 1940’s fashion paintings. They’re perfect to fill up the empty spot on the wall in my sewing room. The paintings were 10 euros each.

I immediately fell in love with these 2 beauties. Both from the 1950’s with a stamp on the bottom (yes, I do watch the antiques road show!). I especially like the green once but they’ve both already received a special spot in my house...
2 beautiful plates which I want to use to make my own vintage cake stand.
And last but not least a 3 euro vintage swan plant pot.
The flea market on the Vossenplein is open daily until 15h. Don’t forget to visit the antiques market at Le grand Sablon every weekend too. It is more upmarket and sells antiques for higher prices but is definitely worth a visit.
With only 15 days to go to my birthday I’m already off for a bad start... I don’t think I will make the deadline for my 32nd birthday dress but who cares! On top of that I’m about to go on a 2 week,well deserved holiday (yipie!!!).
Last week I finally started on my 1920’s flapper dress. I’m really excited about the Mccall 5379 pattern and I’m already thinking on how to accessorise the dress once finished...
At least if I get there! Vintage patterns don’t turn out to be as easy as I had hoped... In fact, there’s as good as no explanation at all on the so called instruction page. Also, the sizes don’t seem to be what they are today. The dress is a size 16 and for a girl who usually wears a UK size 10 (or occasionally 12...) this size 16 is amazingly small. For now, with a few adjustments it seems to be ok... Let’s just hope I fit into the end result!
I chose to make the dress in a jade green polyester fabric. At the moment Jade green is my favourite colour... Don’t ask me why, I just love the colour!
The dress is actually a 2 piece garment which comes in 2 different versions. One has a fitted sleeve which ends in a point around the wrist, the other one has a gathered sleeve. I’m going for the gathered sleeve, just because I think it’s a little more up to date.
Anyway, I have just finished the top part of the dress which basically looks like a tank top and I’m now working on the pleads of the skirt. So far everything seems to be going as per plan. I’m a bit tired tonight but I hope to attach the skirt to the bodice by tomorrow evening...

In the middle of all the madness that’s going on, both at home and at work I have finally managed to finish the pleads in the skirt... As the size of the dress wasn’t exactly what I needed it to be the pleads allowed me to adjust it to exactly my size.
With all the pleads in place I then attached the skirt to the bodice.
Far from finished but already looking very Charleston...

I’m afraid there’s no take 3 as yet... I’m off for a well deserved 2 week holiday to New York (so excited!!!). I am looking forward to finish this one though... I’ll keep you posted!

Finally... I’ve found myself some time to work on my dress. By now it has become a belated birthday dress. Ok, so I didn’t make the deadline... I still can’t wait to wear it.
Today I started with the blouse for the 2 piece dress.
I’ve made some slight changes to the pattern, just because it is quite complicated and without instructions I prefer to make it i little easier...
Tomorrow I will start with the sleeves and I’m hoping to finish this project very soon...

Ok, I know it’s taken me ages to finish this one however I am very pleased with the result...
I’m not sure how often I will be able to wear this dress though.What I do like about it is that as it is a 2 piece dress the blouse can easily be worn separately for example with skinny jeans. Let’s get the party started!
